At Luxeye, staying at the forefront of vision technology is part of our commitment to delivering the best care for every family. We’re proud to be among the first optical practices in Williamsburg, Manhattan, and Queens to introduce Essilor’s Stellest™ lenses—a breakthrough innovation designed specifically for myopia control in children. Backed by cutting-edge research and our team’s deep expertise in pediatric vision care, Stellest™ offers a proven, science-driven solution to help slow myopia progression and protect your child’s long-term eye health. As your trusted neighborhood optical boutique, we’re excited to bring this new standard of myopic management to our community. Let us show explain how this technology works.

What is Myopia
Myopia occurs when the eye grows too long from front to back, causing light to focus in front of the retina instead of directly on it. This results in blurry distance vision. The condition often starts in childhood and can worsen over time, increasing the risk of serious eye diseases such as retinal detachment, glaucoma, and cataracts later in life.
Traditional glasses and contact lenses correct vision but do not slow down the progression of myopia. This limitation has driven research into specialized lenses that can both correct vision and reduce the rate at which myopia worsens.
What is Stellest™ lenses
Essilor Stellest lenses are eyeglasses designed to correct vision and slow the progression of myopia (nearsightedness) in children aged 6 to 16. They use a technology called H.A.L.T. (Highly Aspherical Lenslet Target) which consists of a constellation of 1,021 invisible lenslets that create a "myopic defocus" signal to slow eye elongation. The lenses are a non-invasive, lower-risk alternative to contact lenses for myopia management and have been authorized by the FDA
How they work
H.A.L.T. technology: The lenses have a clear central zone for vision correction, surrounded by rings of tiny, raised dots (lenslets) on the surface.
Myopic defocus: These lenslets create a signal to slow the eye's growth by creating a volume of myopic defocus in the peripheral vision.
Key features and benefits
Vision correction: Stellest lenses correct your child's current prescription.
Myopia control: Clinically proven to slow myopia progression, with studies showing an average of 67% reduction in progression when worn for 12 hours a day.
Lower risk: Unlike contact lenses, they are not associated with risks like eye infections.
Durability: They are made from strong, lightweight, and durable materials like polycarbonate.
Ease of use: They are a non-invasive treatment that is easy for children to adapt to, often within a few days.
Wearing schedule
Consistent and full-time wear is important to maximize the treatment's effectiveness.
It is recommended to wear the lenses for at least 10 hours a day, for at least 6 days a week.

Important Considerations
Consult a reputable eye care professional: A comprehensive eye exam is necessary to determine if Stellest lenses are the right choice for your child.
Strict FDA Control: Under FDA regulation, the prescription must indicate Stellest lens in order for any optical provider to prescribe such lenses to ensure the child has been properly examined. If you already have a regular eye exam prescription from your pediatric Ophthalmologist, we still need to conduct a new eye exam specifically for the Stellest lens before we can order.
FDA Controlled glasses edging and fitting: Since the Stellest lens is a medical device, the FDA requires that we send the frames to a designated FDA finishing lab to cut and mount the lenses to the frame, wait time is about 2-3 weeks. The lenses must be properly fitted by us to ensure proper vision and comfort.
A back-up: Children will always be children, breaking and losing their glasses are inevitable. Since it may take up to 3 weeks for a new pair to be ready, and to ensure there's no interruption to your child's Myopic Management process, a back up pair is necessary.
Availability: Stellest lenses are only available in the 1.59 polycarbonate material, with the Crizal® Easy Pro lens coating by Essilor, no Blue-Light Filter coatings available yet with the Stellest lens, but we foresee that may be available in the near future.
Prescription range: Stellest is a myopic control device, so it's only available in (-) prescriptions, and the range is SPH: (0.00-10.00); CYL (0.00-4.00).
